How to Install a Bus Airbag
1. Remove the old air spring
Remove the load
Jack up the bus frame to ensure that the suspension is fully extended and the air spring is depressurized.
Place the support frame in a stable position on the axle or chassis.
Relieve air pressure
Before disconnecting the air line, release the residual air pressure in the spring through the exhaust valve.
Mark the line connection position (for easy reinstallation).
2. Remove the fixing parts
Remove the upper and lower air spring fixing bolts/nuts (impact wrench may be required).
Carefully remove the old spring and check the seat and piston for rust or damage.
3. Install the new air spring
Inspect the new spring and seat
Clean the mounting surface to ensure that there is no debris or rust.
Confirm that the new spring model is the same as the old one (such as height, load-bearing class).
Positioning and installation
Align the new air spring with the upper and lower mounting seats (note the direction mark).
Temporarily tighten the fixing bolts by hand to ensure that the spring is centered.
Connect the air line
Reconnect the air pipe and use a new clamp or seal to prevent air leakage.
Make sure there are no twists or bends in the pipes.
4. Inflation and testing
Preliminary inflation
Start the bus air system (or external air source) and slowly inflate to the recommended pressure (refer to the manual).
Check all joints with soapy water for bubbles (leakage needs to be resealed).
Adjust the height
If the bus is equipped with an automatic leveling system, observe whether the body is level after starting.
For manually adjusted models, measure the wheel arch height to ensure left and right symmetry.
Tighten the bolts
Tighten all bolts to the manufacturer's specifications with a torque wrench at the correct pressure (avoid over-tightening to damage the rubber).
5. Final inspection
Road test: Test the shock absorption effect at a low speed and listen for any abnormal noise.
Recheck: Check the air pressure and leaks again after parking.
System calibration (if applicable): Some electronic suspensions need to be reset with a diagnostic tester.
